While everyone is gearing up for the release of The Avengers on May 4, Marvel/Disney are hardly taking a break, giving a definitive release date to Captain America 2, and preparing to start shooting Iron Man 3 in May with Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) at the helm. We’ve known for awhile now that the principle cast from Iron Man 2 would be returning for the third film, but we haven’t gotten any word on who will play the villain, or even any new additions to the cast. Variety is reporting that Sir Ben Kingsley is in final negotiations to join the cast as the still unnamed villain. If this goes through (and it most likely will), how awesome will it be? Not many blockbuster franchises have drawn the talent that the Iron Man films have, especially when it comes to the villain roles. How do you follow up Jeff Bridges, Mickey Rourke, and Sam Rockwell? With Ben Kingsley, of course. Read Variety’s article in full here.

Do you think Ben Kingsley will make for a good villain in this film? For you Iron Man comic readers out there, any speculation as to who he might be playing?
